Hi, I’m Mary.
I live in Westminster, MD (if you’re not familiar it’s a town west of Baltimore and north of Washington D.C.) with my wonderful husband Gordon, and our two comedic pups! Tess the Cardigan Corgi and Doug the Dachshund.
I love people, big laughs, and deep conversations, and I think I fell in love with photography because it often involves all three of those. I believe that goodness and joy can be found anywhere when you look for them and that photography is a beautiful way to help us take account of our blessings.
As cliché as it sounds, photos really are life’s only pause button. Life isn’t perfect but it’s filled with beauty and goodness, and that’s how I want my photography to serve you– by authentically documenting your joy-filled moments. I look forward to getting to know you!
The Nitty-Gritty:
I love Jesus, big time. He is the very definition of good and the giver of true joy.
I’m blessed to be married to the best and kindest person I know. We met on match.com just as I was getting ready to throw the towel in on online dating.
I’ve been to all 50 states. Montana is my favorite… those mountains get me every time!
I hate sushi. It’s a texture thing.
I graduated from Rocky Mountain School of Photography in 2010 and became a guest instructor for them in 2016. Whether teaching at RMSP or mentoring sessions and workshops locally, I’m passionate about helping other photographers better understand the art of photography!
I don't have a favorite color, it depends on where it’s used. I blame this on my previous decorative painting job and knowing that color possibilities are endless and wonderful! However, if you pressed me hard I’d tell you yellow. BUT that might change at any time without notice.
Eight of my favorite people call me Aunt Meemes. The name started with my oldest niece because I didn’t want to be called “Aunt Mary”, it sounded too old to me and I’m determined to achieve and maintain the “cool Aunt status”.
Weightlifting is my chosen form of exercise… for both my physical and mental health!
Freshwater fishing is my idea of a perfect vacation. Floating in a rowboat at sunrise, with a line in the water, is my version of a peaceful paradise.
For all of those personality nerds out there like me, I’m an ENFJ/Enneagram 2. If you ever want to chat about MBTI or the Enneagram, I’m your girl! I could nerd out over all of that goodness for days!
