Hi, I’m Mary.
I live in Westminster, Maryland, a charming town west of Baltimore and north of Washington, D.C., with my wonderful husband, Gordon, and our two comedic pups—Tess, the Cardigan Corgi, and Doug, the Dachshund.
I love people, big laughs, and deep conversations, and I think I fell in love with photography because it brings all three together. I believe goodness and joy can be found anywhere when you look for them, and photography is a beautiful way to hold onto life’s blessings.
As cliché as it sounds, photos really are life’s only pause button. Life isn’t perfect, but it’s filled with beauty and meaning, and that’s how I want my photography to serve you—by authentically documenting your joy-filled moments. I look forward to getting to know you!
The Nitty-Gritty:
I love Jesus, big time. He is the very definition of good and the giver of true joy.
I’m blessed to be married to the best and kindest person I know. We met on Match.com just as I was about to throw in the towel on online dating.
I’ve been to all 50 states! Montana is my favorite—those mountains get me every time.
I hate sushi. It’s a texture thing.
I graduated from the Rocky Mountain School of Photography in 2010 and became a guest instructor there in 2016. Whether I’m teaching at RMSP, mentoring locally, or leading workshops, I love helping other photographers grow in their craft!
I don’t have a favorite color—it depends on where it’s used. I blame my decorative painting days for this because the possibilities are endless! But if you pressed me, I’d say yellow… though that could change at any moment.
Eight of my favorite people call me Aunt Meemes. The name started with my oldest niece because “Aunt Mary” sounded way too old. I’m determined to achieve and maintain cool aunt status.
Weightlifting is my workout of choice—for both my physical and mental health!
Freshwater fishing is my idea of a perfect vacation. Floating in a rowboat at sunrise with a line in the water? That’s my peaceful paradise.
For my fellow personality type enthusiasts, I’m an ENFJ and an Enneagram 2, social subtype.
