Fall Portrait Session Inspo!

It’s that time of year again… to update your family photos! The weather is starting to cool off (praise the Lord!), vacations are coming to an end, and back-to-school shopping is in full swing. Believe it or not, now is also the time to book your Fall Portrait Session for your holiday card and gifts. Due to the popularity of weddings in the fall, our session availability is limited… especially on the weekends. If you’d like to schedule a portrait session, now is the time… before it’s too late! October is especially busy this year, so if you’re hoping for some fall color I truly wouldn’t wait. Below are a few ideas to plan your session this year!

Session Inspiration

Late Summer:

  • Pick wildflowers or sunflowers together at The Sunflower Gardens in Westminster

  • Peach Picking at Baugher’s Orchard or Larriland Farms

  • Visit a carnival or fair (the Howard County Fair is this week, the Maryland State Fair is Aug. 25-Sept. 11, and the Frederick Fair is Sept. 16-24th)

  • Go out for ice cream or a snowball while the weather is still warm (Pocantico Creamery in Union Bridge, Pintango Gelato in Fells Point, Simmons Homemade Ice Cream in Hampstead, & Jessica’s Snowballs in Woodbine are all great options… but there are many more to choose from!)

Fall:

  • Go for a hike/nature walk (Piney Run Park, The Howard County Conservancy, Caledonia State Park, Gambrill State Park, & Catoctin Mountain Park, etc.)

  • Pumpkin or Apple Picking at Baugher’s or Larriland

  • Visit a pretty park or venue (Cold Saturday Farm, William Paca House and Gardens, The Tannery Barn … to just name a few!)

  • Grab a coffee and go for a walk downtown (downtown Frederick is my favorite urban location around, but parts of downtown Westminster, Baltimore, and Annapolis are great too!)

In-Home Session Ideas:

  • Rake leaves and create a good jumping pile!

  • Bake a pie or make candy apples together

  • Have a bonfire and make some s’mores… tabletop fire bowls, or your fireplace work too!

  • Cozy up on the couch (read stories, snuggle, drink a cup of coffee or hot chocolate, etc.)

  • Carve pumpkins

  • Play with your pets and/or take your dog for a walk around your neighborhood

  • build a blanket fort together

  • play a family football game in the yard (or tag, kickball, dodgeball, soccer, etc.)
