I met Adam and Zen the day before their wedding at their rehearsal, but because we share a mutual friend and had talked and emailed back and forth so much before their wedding day I felt like we were close friends who have known each other for years! Adam and Zen’s love story is something that could be straight out of the movies, Adam is from Massachusetts, Zen is from Alaska, and they met and fell in love studying abroad in France. After they came home from France, Adam moved to Anchorage where they dated for a few years before getting engaged. Soon after they were engaged they moved to New Hampshire, where they were married last October 3rd at the beautiful Steele Hill Resorts! I love destination weddings, and a fall wedding in the middle of the mountains is nothing short of spectacular. But what made it even more amazing was the people, Zen and Adam are SO wonderful, and their family and friends were so sweet, supportive, and fun! I adored photographing for this incredibly sweet couple, their wedding day was absolutely gorgeous and so very touching!

If anyone is looking for someone to document a special occasion, or a big moment in life, I highly recommend Mary Brunst Photography. We chose Mary to photograph our wedding day, and were thrilled with that decision from the moment we started to work together. Mary is extremely responsive and is well organized — a huge help when you’re trying to piece together all of the details of a wedding! And, lets talk about the photos themselves….INCREDIBLE. We cannot stop looking at them and reliving all of the moments of our wedding, as well as discovering new moments that we were too busy to notice on the big day. We are so pleased with our decision to work with Mary Brunst Photography and are happy to recommend her. – Zen and Adam Godfrey

For those of you who follow me on social media (IG & FB links for those of you who do not but would like to!), you may remember that I had the pleasure of flying to Missoula, MT this past April to consult with Rocky Mountain School of Photography. Not only is Missoula a town that forever holds a special place in my heart, but like my good friend Beth Berger once said, RMSP is a little like Disneyland for photographers. That school is completely amazing. The heart for people that the administration has combined with their passion for excellence in photography education makes it, in my humble opinion, one of the very best photography schools to be found anywhere. I’m honored and completely thrilled to return to Missoula this September to teach their Portrait Photography class!

While I was in Missoula, Sarah Chaput de Saintonge (School Director) and I spent an evening scouting out photo shoot locations for the Portrait Photography class this fall, and what’s scouting without a few fun portraits? I had so much fun hanging out with this beautiful and super talented lady! Also, can we talk about this GORGEOUS MONTANA LIGHT!?!! Doesn’t this location just beg you to photograph? What a super fun evening, I can’t wait to return in September!

Lightroom Workshop!

May 19, 2016

Hi friends! We are hosting another workshop on July 16, 2016 and I’m so excited about it! Have you ever felt like your images would be better if you knew more about image processing? Like you know what you want them to look like stylistically, but aren’t sure how to achieve that look? Have you ever been frustrated about managing your photos on your computer? Lightroom is an amazing pro-level image processing and management software, but it can be a bit daunting if you don’t know how to navigate it to it’s potential. In this class we will cover things like file handling, image processing, basic retouching and composition, spending our time in the Library and Develop modules.

We will delve into over-all aesthetics of what can make a good photo a great photo, sharing all sorts of tips and tricks that I’ve learned along the way. Do you look at one of your images and can’t figure out what doesn’t “feel” quite right? Or what is missing? Bring a few of your own photos with you for a constructive critique, and receive personalized feedback and helpful advice, to grow your creativity and inspire your work to the next level.

I’d love for you to join us for this Lightroom Workshop!

When: Saturday, July 16, 2016

Where: McDaniel College

Time: 9am-4:30pm

Cost: $150

What to bring: A laptop with Adobe Lightroom installed. Please also feel free to bring with you 1-3 of your own images for a constructive critique (optional).

Pro and amateur photographers alike are welcome! Attendees must have a good understanding of their computer’s operating system, as well as basic computer skills, to get the most from this workshop. I hope to see you there!

If you would like to register, or have any questions, please email us at mary@marybrunst.com!

I’m so humbled and blessed as a photographer to be invited into some of my client’s most treasured moments and sweetest memories-in-the-making. Brian and Candie chose to elope, on Sept. 13, 2015 at the Mount St. Sepulchre Franciscan Monastery in Northeast Washington D.C., and the morning couldn’t of been more perfect. The weather was incredible, the sunlight was hazy and soft, and when I think back on that day I still get goosebumps thinking about how precious, sweet, beautiful, and touching their ceremony was. Brian and Candie asked one of their closest friends to officiate the ceremony, and Candie’s adorable son Gage also exchanged vows with Brian as his new dad. To say I felt honored to document a day so special would be an understatement, I loved every minute of documenting this sweet wedding!

Our experience with Mary was amazing from day one. Finding a photographer can be stressful and frustrating but once me met with Mary we knew we had found “the one”. Mary shared our excitement and understood right away what our goals were for an intimate wedding ceremony. Her presence the morning of was calming and reassuring. And I cannot say enough about the incredible gift Mary has for capturing the moment. The seconds pass so quickly but Mary ensures none of them are missed. The final result is a story of our love, and the immense joy in our hearts, perfectly encapsulated in picture. We are so incredibly blessed to have had Mary be a part of our day and look forward to her presence documenting many special moments in the future. – Candie Cook

The morning of September 12, 2015 it was pouring rain, not the light drizzle kind of rain, the torrential down pour super dark skies kind of rain! I loaded up my gear, packed my clear umbrellas, and headed out to start photographing. As soon as I saw both Amber and Dave, at separate times for their getting ready photos, they each had a smile on their face and weren’t letting the weather dampen their spirits. It was beautiful, and everything that a wedding morning should feel like! Right before their First Look, the rain stopped and we had the most beautiful soft light to photograph their portraits outside of Roops Mill. It was absolutely stunning! This wedding is one that I won’t soon forget, it was lovely, with amazingly wonderful people, and I adored photographing every minute of it!!!
