I think most professional photographers will tell you that one the best aspects of their job is the opportunity and ability to tell stories with their images; and I’m no different, it’s for sure one of my favorite parts of being a photographer. But when I am given the opportunity to tell the story of a fantastic small business making quality and beautiful art? There are few projects that would make me that excited! It was an absolute joy and privilege to photograph for Whichgoose, a small handmade business that specializes in crafting handmade flower crowns, boho bridal headpieces, and woodland wedding accessories. Their pieces are stunning, and owner and creator Emily Suidikas was so much fun to collaborate with.

We were able to have a two part photo session with Whichgoose, the first session taking place in their studio, and the second session (of the pieces being modeled) were all photographed in private gardens in Georgetown, Washington, D.C.

Whichgoose_blog3As a photographer who also photographs weddings, I was especially excited to take on this project. I love when I meet other vendors who are doing unique and quality work that makes me feel like I just have to tell you about it. Emily’s headpieces, crowns, and accessories, are all individually hand crafted with care, and are a beautiful alternative to brides looking for options beyond a traditional veil and tiara.

whichgoose_2It was so much fun to visit Emily’s studio, to have the opportunity to document a small slice of her business and how it operates. As it is with many handmade small businesses, Whichgoose is a one person, one artist operation. Speaking from a one person business about another one person business, it’s an overwhelming amount of work that only makes it worthwhile when you truly love what you do. Whichgoose’s success speaks of the quality and efficiency of how Emily runs her business, and having the opportunity to see it all first hand, I can tell you that it’s really great.

Mary has the perfect mix of professionalism and friendliness that made me feel so at ease during our session. – Emily Suidikas, Owner and Creator of Whichgoose
